Go south to the square at the very bottom of the map (I think it is square #1) to ?Cumen? the large town. I have found a good way to start without creating an entire party is to go through the initial lumen stages both the ?lumen fortum? and targ w/o fighting any battles get to the area exit on the bottom left side of ?lumen targ? and get to the world map. I ran and am still running into the same issues.
